The Francisco de Lacerda Association was founded in 2019 in Fajã da Fragueira, on the island of São Jorge in the Azores, stimulated by the life path of the musician and composer Francisco de Lacerda and his professional activity in music to the present day.

It defined as objectives of its activity, to promote the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Azores, its history, art education through music and the environment, research in the cultural legacies of personalities linked to music, performing arts, plastic arts and literature, in addition to conceiving and carrying out cultural events and concerts, stimulating artistic creation between generations in order to create publishing contents in discographic, literary and audiovisual formats.

At this moment, its activity is dedicated to the development of a set of initiatives enrolled in the national programme of the Participatory Budget of Portugal, of which we highlight the edition of a book with the composer's scores, the production of an audiovisual documentary about the life and work of Francisco de Lacerda, and the realisation of a set of concerts entitled "The Music and the World - Atlantic Sound Encounters", which will have its second edition in July 2022.
